The brain is such an important organ of the body that it can even determine a person’s life. Many of us may believe that a person with tiny damage in his brain (or near the brain) can barely survive. But Alfie proved that nothing is impossible. His skull used to be severely destroyed by the maggots. They created a huge crater in his head within several hours. Most of the rescuers thought that he wouldn’t survive, but after all, Alfie is still alive and is living his happiest life.

Right after Alfie was found, he was taken to the vet to treat the maggots. Besides his head, the maggots also tunneled sparsely on his leg and several spots in his body. The doctors directly applied the medicine to his wounds in order to control the activities of the maggots. It took half of a day for the medicine to take effect. At that moment, Alfie looked exhausted and depressed. Seeing his terrible condition, the doctors knew that they needed to try even the slightest chance to save him.

The next morning, the poor dog was sedated so that the doctors could easily clean his wounds. It was a long process due to a large number of maggots. The doctors washed out the majority of the maggots, but the remaining were stuck in Alfie’s skull. Therefore,  they needed to take them out patiently using tweezers. With so much swelling, the doctors didn’t even know whether Alfie still had his eyes.

Alfie finally could wake up. His condition improved a lot.  After all of the maggots were taken out of his body, Alfie couldn’t feel more comfortable. At that time, he could eat some solid food and be ready for his recovery. On day 10, his tissue regenerated, making the doctors surprised. Also, Alfie could get used to the daily treatment. His miracle recovery really amazed everyone.

20 days after the rescue, although bones were still exposed, his wound on the head became much smaller. He experienced an amazing recovery. It didn’t take a long time for Alfie to fully recover and live happily again. Eventually, he was in a healthy condition, both physically and mentally. His survival was just like magic. It couldn’t be explained by the medical treatment alone, but because of the best love and care from his rescuers and doctors.

The love from doctors was the best treatment that contributed to Alfie’s amazing transformation. We can be happy that Alfie is now living healthily and happily.
